Community has raised $37,000 for Hampstead family days after their home went up in flames

HAMPSTEAD - A Hampstead family is overwhelmed with the love and support they've seen from their community in the days following a massive fire that destroyed their home.

UPDATE: Julian Edelman tweets for help, community donations pass $70,000 mark for Hampton family

Two Go Fund Me pages have already raised more than $37,000 for John Ward and his kids.

This isn't the first time the family has seen an outpouring of support. John's wife Monica lost her battle with cancer last year. Now after this devastating fire, neighbors and strangers are rallying behind this family once again.

Two of the three children watched today as parts of their childhood home was torn down.

The fire Sunday was so large, it destroyed much of the house within 30 minutes.

Firefighters were back on scene Tuesday putting out hot spots.

The fire started in the back of the home where Ward had made a fire in the fire pit before leaving to coach his son’s soccer team.

No one was home when the house caught fire.

Ward says he and his kids are grateful to everyone's support.

“It's just to me that people want to love other people and we don't do enough of that. We wait for tragedy. It is overwhelming, the love, the support,” Ward said.

As of Tuesday evening, one Go Fund Me Page had raised over $30,000, while second had raised an additional $7,000.
