Cold temperatures to blame for Exeter water main break
EXETER - It was a busy Monday for Department of Public Works in Exeter today.
They're blaming cold temperatures and high winds for a series of water main breaks.
One break affected the students and staff at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Crews were on scene from 7 a.m. on and it took them the better part of the day to restore water.
"We're used to this during the winter. The cold temperatures aren't so good for the crew so after they work in the hole they heat up with our infrared heater," said Steven Tucker of Exeter DPW.
