COAST transit service donates $1,810 in Leap Day bus fares to NH Food Bank

CONCORD - A New Hampshire seacoast region public transit provider is paying it forward by donating collected bus fares to the New Hampshire Food Bank.

Well-known transit service COAST (Cooperative Alliance for Seacoast Transportation), is donating bus fares that were collected on "Leap Year Day" (Feb. 29) to the Granite State's food bank.

A COAST staff member came up with the fundraising idea as a way to do something special in a year with 24 extra hours, where the bus service was able to raise $1,810 in fares and donations.
