Coast Guard suspends search for possible missing kayaker off Maine coast
MILBRIDGE, Maine — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a possible missing kayaker off the coast of Maine Thursday.
The Coast Guard said they received a mayday broadcast around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. Through a broken radio transmission, they believed a man fell out of his kayak and was in the vicinity of Bois Bubert Island.
The Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard, Maine Marine Patrol and other partner agencies searched over 456 square miles and for more than 18 hours without success.
Anyone with information regarding the kayaker's whereabouts is asked to call the Northern New England Coast Guard at 207-741-5422.
