Coast Guard recovers body of missing canoer in Vermont
MALLETTS BAY, Vt. — Search crews recovered the body of a man who's canoe tipped over Saturday.
Multiple Coast Guard agencies were called to Malletts Bay for a report of three men who had tipped over their canoe early Saturday morning.
Two of the men were able to swim to shore, but the third remained missing.
Coast Guard boat and helicopter crews scoured the area for roughly five and a half hours looking for the missing man. At about 3 p.m., dive teams finally located his body.
Officials said none of the men on board were wearing lifejackets.
Police urged mariners to remain cautious and said the risk of hypothermia is still very high.
