Close to 800 people participate in 5k for fallen Brentwood officer

BRENTWOOD — Officer Stephen Arkell was shot and killed on the job.

His wife, Heather, with the help of the community put on the 2nd Annual Officer Stephen Arkell Community 5k on Saturday, according to the Union Leader.

Heather told the paper that close to 800 runners and walkers participated in the race that raises money for the Stephen Arkell Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year the fund will be awarding two $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors at Exeter High School. Stephen was a coach of the girls lacrosse team at the school.

Stephan died on May 12, 2014 when he responded to a domestic disturbance on Mill Pond Road.
