Clearing snow from roof in Sanborn School District an all-day affair

NEWTON - Snow removal crews cleaned the top of school in the Sanborn district all day Tuesday.

Superintendent Brian Blake told NH1 News that the district will make a decision later Tuesday on whether schools will be open Wednesday.

A teacher noticed a problem in the ceiling of her classroom at Sanborn Regional Middle School around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

She alerted the office and they moved children from that wing of the school into the gymnasium. The school dismissed the students at 12:30 p.m.

A structural engineering and facilities crew surveyed the scene Monday and determined crews could clean the roof off.

They closed all schools on Tuesday to clear the roofs.

The district includes the towns of Kingston and Newton.
