A cold front pushes offshore as high pressure settles in from the west as we go through Thursday. A somewhat chilly air mass for this time of the year will filter in with the high pressure system. High pressure will then crest overtop NH Thursday Night and move to the Canadian Maritimes on Friday.
Another setup for some snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain appears likely late Friday Night into Saturday Morning. The cold high pressure system across the Canadian Maritimes gives NH a northeast wind and cold air at the surface. At the same time, a warm front will lift north across the region late Friday into Saturday Morning. This brings in moisture but also warm air aloft which allows for the transition from snow to sleet to freezing rain. Eventually the warm air erodes the cold air at the surface as the winds shift to more of a southeasterly direction and this allows for a transition to plain rain Saturday Morning into the Afternoon. A cold front will then track through Saturday Evening to sweep the moisture out of the region.
High pressure will build in from the west Saturday Night into Sunday. This system will shift east of the area Monday. Low pressure will approach from the south and west Monday Night and Tuesday. Again, temperatures may be cold enough for snow initially, but things may warm for a transition to ice and rain. Much depends on the track of this low pressure system, and much uncertainty remains with just how organized this system will be too. Stay tuned!
