Chilly pond dip benefits adaptive sports program

The Associated Press

WATERVILLE VALLEY — Dozens of people will be going cold turkey for a good cause this weekend in Waterville Valley.

The third annual Cold Turkey Plunge is being held Saturday to benefit Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports, a program that helps individuals with disabilities enjoy skiing and other sports. Participants, all raising at least $50, will take a brief dip in the cold waters of Corcoran Pond before claiming cold turkey sandwiches and other goodies.

Prizes will be awarded to the top fund-raisers and those wearing the best costumes.

Later Saturday, the town will welcome the winter season when Santa arrives with his sled dog team.
