Children's museum photos, memorabilia damaged in NH flooding

The Associated Press

DOVER (AP) — The Children's Museum of New Hampshire says last week's storm sent 2 feet of water, leaves, mud and debris into its basement, damaging thousands of photos and other memorabilia documenting its 33-year history.

Jane Bard, president of the Dover museum, said as workers were sorting through debris on Saturday, a day after the storm, they found floodwaters had breached sealed plastic bins with the documents. She says it was devastating to see the museum's history "literally floating in water," but they're trying to save what they can.

The museum also lost all its stored Halloween decorations and craft supplies, and small kitchen appliances and other cookware for programs like an adult/child Mini Iron Chef competition scheduled for Nov. 15.

Those considering a donation can call or visit the museum's website.
