Chester voters pass $4.05M borrowing measure referendum

The Associated Press

CHESTER, Vt. — Voters have decided to pass a $4.05 million borrowing measure referendum that will bring major water system improvements to the town.

The Eagle Times reports the project entails the construction of a 330,000-gallon water storage tank and the replacement of 3,600 feet of damaged pipe.

Officials say the current system was at risk of losing all its pressure and drawing contaminants into the water.

The project will be financed through loans from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the Vermont Municipal Bond Bank.
