Chester town offices, police department closed due to transformer fire

CHESTER - All town offices, including the police department, closed early Friday because of transformer fire. All operations were put on hold until power could be restored.

With today being the first of the month, officials asked all residents who have vehicles expiring in July to wait until the offices are back online before trying to reregister.

There is a secure dropbox in the front of Town Hall for all tax payments. They ask all residents to put their number and/or paystub on the envelope in order to secure a payment receipt.

The offices apologized for the poor timing and hope to be back up and running by July 5.
