Charges dropped against driver in Bedford crash that killed his brother
BEDFORD - Charges against Nicholas Palangas, who was accused of drunk driving after a crash in Bedford that killed his brother in September, have been dropped.
According to the Union Leader, Nicholas Palangas, 50, of Weare, faced misdemeanor charges of vehicular assault and falsifying physical evidence in connection with the crash. Felony charges of negligent homicide and aggravated driving while intoxicated were dismissed weeks after the crash.
A police affadavit said Nicholas Palangas had alcohol on his breath at the scene of the crash.
On Sept. 5, Nicholas Palangas was driving a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle on Kilton Road in Bedford when he hit a granite edge and flipped the car.
Passengers included his cousin Michael Gekas, 42, of Manchester, survived the crash. Eric Palangas, 49, of Manchester, was pronounced dead at the scene. Eric Palangas was a veteran firefighter and former state legislator.
