Channel 7 - WHDH-TV in Boston - could be left without its NBC affiliation in 2017

Your channel 7 might look a little bit different in 2017.

WHDH-TV might be left without a network affiliation next year after the station's owner, Ed Ansin, said Wednesday that NBC plans to announce as early as today that it will end its affiliation agreement with his station starting next year, according to the Boston Globe.

But the station doesn't plan to let that happen without a fight.

Ansin said that the station has put together a legal team challenge the NBC's decision.

NBC is expected to move it's programming to WNEU-TV, a station that serves Boston and is licensed to Merrimack, N.H.

NBCUniversal also owns that station.

WNEU currently broadcasts the Spanish-language channel Telemundo, and the new plan would be to broadcast a channel called NBC Boston in addition to it from one transmitter.
