CHANGING FAMILIES - More skimming devices are being found across New Hampshire.
The Nashua police have released a few tips on how to spot them at gas pumps, ATMs and more.
- Look for tamper-proof tape. If there is no tape or the tape is broken or marked “void” go into the gas station, alert the attendant and used the card reader inside the store.
- Something might be covering the reader at ATMs. If something looks weird or out of place notify the bank and/or police. These readers can be placed over the ATM and take your information that way.
Here's how it works.
Suspects use the counterfeit card readers to steal and record card information including PIN numbers. That gives them the ability to make a duplicate cards using the information to be used anywhere.
