Changing Families: Home sales rise across the U.S.
CONCORD - Americans are going on a shopping spree for homes. The Census Bureau says 552,000 single-family homes were sold across the U.S. in August. That's the highest number since February 2008, and a six percent increase since July.
Those are good numbers, but it's still far behind the monthly average over the last 30 years.
According to RealtyTrac, in New Hampshire in July 1709 homes were sold - the most recent numbers RealtyTrac has available. That is up 3.4 percent from June, and basically unchanged from July 2014 with 1718 homes sold.
The Fed is expected to raise its key interest rate this year, which would push up mortgage rates.
