Car hits house in Gilsum, driver charged with drunken driving, passenger injured

GILSUM - A small red Chevy hit the side of a house at the corner of Main Street and Banks Road on Friday night. The driver was charged with drunken driving.

Police say a passenger in the car, Jessica M. Libbey, 39, of Gilsum, was seriously injured in the crash and flown by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The driver, Jesse Baldinelli, 21, also of Gilsum, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, a second offense and conduct after an accident. He was not injured, police said.

According to police, Baldinelli was driving a Chevy Cobalt heading east at a high rate of speed when he went off the road, hit several trees and came to rest against the house shortly after 10 p.m. The house was damaged but remains structurally sound, police said.

Baldinelli was held for lack of cash bail at the Cheshire County jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in the 8th Circuit Court District Division-Keene.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact state Trooper Hawley Rae at 223-8494
