Car accident in Bow causes 899 customers to lose power

BOW - An Allenstown man is charged with DWI after an accident on Route 3A, that caused 899 Unitil customers to lose power Saturday.

John Fisher, 57, had been driving south on 3A in the area of Vaughn and River roads when he tried to pass another vehicle, police said. His vehicle hit that vehicle and then his vehicle hit a utility pole, causing significant damage police said.

The accident happened a short distance from Fieldhouse Sports, which also lost power. Several soccer games and other activities had to be cut short because of the outage.

Crews were working on the utility pole and service was expected to be restored by 7:30 p.m.

Lee Kimball, emergency management director in Bow, said one person was taken to the hospital and that person's condition was unknown.

The driver of the vehicle that Fisher hit received a minor shoulder injury and was treated at the scene, police said.

The road was closed off while repairs were made to the pole.

Police are investigating the accident.
