Can you go 48 hours phone, laptop, tablet free in Seacoast 'digital fast'

PORTSMOUTH - A media studies professor is urging you to take this week to put your phone down, switch off your laptop, and get some fresh air and sunshine.

Jeff Stern is organizing the first Seacoast Digital Fast, a 48-hour weekend free of the use of tablets, cell phones, laptops, or other devices, according to Seacoastonline.

The event is kicking off Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. and concludes Sunday evening.

This idea began as a class project that Stern would organize in one of his classes, in which students would record their experiences of the fast with pen and paper.

There will be a series of events throughout the weekend, starting with a kickoff party at the Block Six Restaurant at 4:30 p.m. 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, and ending with a closing reflection at the Book & Bar on Portsmouth on Sunday at 5 p.m.
