Campton Police rescue elderly couple from smoke-filled house

Two elderly NH residents were rescued by Campton Police Officer Colby Morrison and Corporal Kevin Foss Friday night after a fire broke out at the couple's Campton residence.

84-year-old Richard Szeliga and his dog were outside of the house when the two officers arrived on scene, but his 79-year-old wife Nancy Szeliga was still inside the smoke-filled house, authorities say.

Although the fire department had yet to arrive, Morrison entered the residence and was able to lead Nancy Szeliga to safety.

Campton Police Chief Christopher Warn stated, "It is this type of dedication to the people we are sworn to protect and selfless action on Officer Morrison's part that makes me very proud."
