Calling it quits at work? One New England city ranks on Forbes list of places to retire in 2017
Now that June has dumped another batch of graduates into the workforce, conversation for many has shifted to, what about retirement?
Writer William P. Barrett put together the piece for Forbes on the top 25 places to retire in 2017, and one New England city is on their list.
Generally speaking, the Forbes list includes some obvious favorites, including places in Arizona and Florida, but the inclusion of Lewiston, Maine, doesn't follow retirement plan norms.
According to the website Smartasset, the average retirement age in New Hampshire is 65. Workforce participation drops steadily after age 55.
The list does not rank the top 25, which were chosen on the basis of housing costs, taxes, medical care and quality of life.
