Buttons, patches, artifacts stolen from Raymond Historical Society

NH1.com

Raymond has a button thief problem.

The Union Leader reported that someone broke into a historical caboose on 1 Depot Road and stole 23 railroad uniform buttons, 25 railroad patches, rare police badges and a conductors cap (dated to be from the 1930s) off a mannequin's head. The theft was discovered on Sunday night.

“It was devastating. Unfortunately, everything they stole had historic value,” Diana DeBruyckere, the historical society's vice president told the Union Leader.

This was after the historical society had invested $55,000 in restoring the displays of the last year.

The Raymond Police Department asks anyone with information to contact them at 895-4747 or email the investigating officer, Cpl. Jonathan Kelly at jkelly@raymondnh.gov.
