BUJUMBURA, Burundi (AP) One person was killed Thursday in clashes in the Burundian capital during protests over President Pierre Nkurunziza's bid for a third term in office.
Nkurunziza has said that if he is re-elected it will be his last term in office but his critics want him to drop his presidential bid, saying he has finished the two term limit allowed by law.
In the Kinama area of the capital, an Associated Press reporter saw a body in a pool of blood.
The Burundian army fired warning shots in the air to disperse protesters in Citiboke who were chasing down people suspected to be members of pro-government militia.
The death brings the number people have been killed in the protests to at least 10. More than 30,000 Burundians have fled to neighboring countries, fearing political violence.
