Burst pipe floods town offices in Gilmanton

The Associated Press

GILMANTON - The town offices in Gilmanton are closed after a pipe burst in the building, causing a section of a ceiling in the auditorium to collapse under the weight of the water.

Firefighters were called to the building around 10 p.m. Sunday. They said a sprinkler pipe broke in the attic and caused the flooding. Water was coming out of the ceiling and light fixtures. There was standing water on all three floors of the building.

The town clerk said the damage was extensive. It's not known how long the offices will be closed.
