Burger King assault and multi-town police chase ends with crash
EPPING — A Brentwood man faces multiple charges after fleeing an alleged assault.
Salman Zaid, 19, faces charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, disobeying an officer, and reckless conduct after he allegedly assaulted someone in an Epping Burger King before leading officers on a chase through a few towns and crashing into a utility pole in Plaistow, reports the Union Leader.
The series of events began with a call to police reporting that a drunk man had assaulted someone at a Burger King on Route 125 after 9 p.m. Saturday.
Zaid sped away southbound on Route 125, Epping police Capt. Jason Newman reported.
The vehicle would not stop despite efforts of Epping police. Officers say Zaid drove north in the southbound lane after passing the South Road intersection, and sometimes reached speeds of 90 or 100 miles per hour.
The chase ended after the fleeing car struck a utility pole on 73 Main St. in Plaistow just after 9:30 p.m. Reports say Zaid was taken to Exeter Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
He is expected to receive more charges are expected.
