Buckeyes take time off, then get set to take on UC

The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) After winning two of their first three games, including Saturday's 66-0 stroll past Kent State, No. 23 Ohio State enjoys a bye week.

Well, enjoy might be a strong word.

Coach Urban Meyer promised that the Buckeyes would work on fundamentals when they return from two days off to start this week.

Really, last weekend's rout of the overmatched Golden Flashes wasn't much more than a hard practice, anyway. With the outcome never in doubt, lots of players saw action who might not on a typical Saturday while the starters were able to work on fine-tuning their games.

In relatively short order, the Buckeyes will stop working on themselves so much and will set their sights on the Sept. 27 showdown against Cincinnati.
