Bristol woman who died identified after early morning crash on I-93 in Ashland


ASHLAND - A Bristol woman died after her car crashed into a high speed guardrail on Interstate 93 early Wednesday morning.

Police said Debra-Rae Purcell, 59, was found unconscious in the car around 5:30 a.m. about a half mile south of Exit 24. Efforts to save her life en route to the hospital were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead on arrival at Speare Hospital in Plymouth.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors, but the crash remains under investigation.
