Police identify driver who died in Exeter rollover on Route 101

EXETER - State police have identified the victim of a rollover crash on Route 101 Saturday afternoon that closed the highway in both directions for several hours.

Eric Williams, 33, of Hampton, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the car.

According to police, a state trooper tried to stop a 2007 Dark Blue Ford Crown Victoria heading east for multiple violations. The driver failed to stop and continued east at a high rate of speed.

Between exits 11 and 12, police say the vehicle swerved to the right and the driver lost control. The car rolled over into the median and came to rest in the westbound lane of the highway. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected in the crash.

Both lanes of Route 101 were closed for several hours while this crash was investigated.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Bryan Plamondon at 223-8677 or email at
