Brady-less Patriots beat Cardinals 23-21 as Garappolo shines

The New England Patriots have survived a last-minute field goal attempt to beat the Arizona Cardinals 23-21 in Jimmy Garoppolo's debut.

The Patriots took a two-point lead on Stephen Gostkowski's 32-yard field goal with just over 6 minutes, but Arizona marched into field goal range.

A low snap threw kicker Matt Catanzaro off and he pulled his 47-yard field goal left.

Garoppolo threw for 264 yards and a touchdown in his first game in place of Tom Brady, who has been suspended the first four games of the season for his role in Deflategate.

Carson Palmer threw for 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Larry Fitzgerald, who became the 10th player in NFL history to reach 100 receiving touchdowns.
