Boyfriend of NH homicide victim, 2 others held without bail in Virginia jail
FARMINGTON — The boyfriend of a women who was brutally killed earlier this year is being held without bail in a Virginia jail for possession and intent to sell numerous illegal narcotics.
Dean Smoronk, 55, of Farmington, endured the death of his girlfriend in January after she was stabbed in his home.
During a traffic stop on June 11, Virginia State Police Troopers pulled over a 2016 Ford Transit Van for reckless driving in a work zone.
The driver, Dusty Cousens, 40, of Somersworth, switched positions with Smoronk as they were coming to a stop, police said.
After Cousens gave a false identity and invalid license, officers continued the investigation including a consented search of the vehicle, police said.
Narcotics including heroin, MDMA (ecstasy), crystal methamphetamine, two forms of anabolic steroids, needles, glass meth pipes, packaging materials, and digital scales were located in the vehicle and on a passenger, Nicholas Batista, 20, of Rochester, police said.
Smoronk, along with the other passengers named, were arrested and transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail where they are currently being held without bail.
Another female passenger is not facing any charges.
