Boy Scouts taking part in food drive

MANCHESTER — Boy scouts from throughout New Hampshire are taking part in an annual Scouting for Food drive on Nov. 14.

This Saturday, scouts were distributing door hangers around their communities to encourage residents to leave nonperishable food and household items for pick-up for the following week.

Following pick-up, scouts will take the food to one of more than 20 collection sites where it will be sorted and distributed to over 85 local food pantries and agencies.

The most needed items include canned proteins, soups, vegetables, and fruits, as well as grains like pasta and rice. Hygiene products are also needed.

Over 285,000 food and household items were collected by Scouts in New Hampshire last year.
