Box truck gets stuck, destroyed under Dover bridge after failing to clear it

DOVER — A box truck was badly damaged after getting stuck because it did not clear the train trestle of a bridge.

Dover Police Lt. Brad Gould told Fosters that the driver was headed downtown on Broadway and almost made it under the bridge before getting stuck in the trestle on Wednesday.

The 2016 Hino truck was being driven by Dylan Smith, 23, of Rollinsford. It was registered with Rockingham Electric.

The accident scattered debris across the road. A tow truck provided by Rochester Truck freed the box while another truck cleared the debris.

Broadway was reduced to single-lane traffic for about an hour.

Smith was not injured or charged, Gould said.
