PORTSMOUTH - A group of Portsmouth High School seniors will hold a rally Friday evening in Market Square to protest negative comments left on their prom pictures.
The pictures were posted by the Portsmouth Herald following the prom last Friday.
“Just glad these ladies are not my daughters"
“Parents should be ashamed of themselves! Sorry!"
“Yikes I totally agree those are NOT prom dresses. I would never let my kid leave the house dressed like this!”
Some of the comments were deleted following media attention.
The rally will take a positive look at the consequences of posting degrading comments online, and encourage young women and men to be respectful.
“We plan on just having a good vibe and being positive and spreading good feelings not only to women but men," said organizer Ginger Ruesswick.
The rally begins at 6 p.m.
