Body pulled from the Souhegan River on Saturday, believed to be of missing Nashua man


The body of an adult male was removed from the Souhegan River on Saturday after a jogger reported seeing a body floating in the water.

Police say the body is believed to be that of 23-year-old John Watkins of Nashua, who was last seen on Dec. 24.

An autopsy is planned for Sunday.

Police say the body was spotted near the Souhegan River Trails near the Amherst town line around 10:30 a.m.

Milford police were assisted by NH Fish and Game, the Milford fire department, the Amherst police and fire departments and the Bedford fire department in locating and recovering the body.

Police say there is no indication of foul play but the incident remains under investigation.
