Body of a Vermont man found in the Connecticut River in Littleton

LITTLETON - Divers with the N.H. Fish and Game Department recovered the body of a Vermont man in the Connecticut River near the Pine Island Picnic area on Sunday afternoon.

Conservation officers have identified the victim as Scott B. Way, 24 of St. Johnsbury.

Way was reported missing by family on Saturday. Police with the Littleton Department and conservation officers with the Fish and Game Department interviewed all parties who last had contact with him and determined that Way was last seen in the water at the Pine Island Picnic Area early that day.

That evening, a Fish and Game K9 team and Littleton police searched the shoreline around the Pine Island Picnic Area and used a patrol boat to search the water. On Sunday morning, the search for Way resumed as two K9 teams from New England K-9 Search & Rescue searched the water and islands. Ultimately, divers went into the water and found the body.
