Belmont police arrest man accused of beating a woman at a homeless camp

BELMONT - An investigation into a disturbance at a homeless camp behind the state liquor store off Old State Road led to the arrest of a man accused of assaulting a woman at the camp.

The woman, age 47, was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment of injuries to her face, arms and neck that reportedly occurred as the result of multiple assaults over the course of several days.

Police say Kenneth Wright, 52, has been charged with two counts of domestic violence, simple assault and one charge of second-degree assault, a felony.

Wright was arraigned early this week Laconia District Court and was being held at the Belknap County jail on $2,000 cash bail.
