BEDFORD - Testimony continued for a second day against a Massachusetts man facing charges in connection to a 2012 home break-in and beating in Bedford.
One of the victims, Dr. Eduardo Quesada, took the stand on Wednesday and testified against the man he said brutally beat him and assaulted his wife Sonia in their Proclamation Court home.
“It was a look of an empty man. One without a soul and I plead with him not to hurt us, begged him not to hurt us, and our daughter,” said Quesada, explaining the intruder he saw during the attack.
Prosecutors say Normil beat Sonia Quesada after attacking her husband. The couple's then 2-year-old daughter, home at the time, was unharmed.
Sonia Quesada died from a prescription overdose in January of 2013.
Normil allegedly broke into the home, and when he came face to face with the homeowners, he used household objects to beat the Quesadas. Authorities say Normil also raped Quesada’s wife, Sonia.
“So this is the metal hanger,” said Sargent Strong showing the jury evidence packets.
A hanger and screwdriver found at the scene were shown to the jury as evidence. Both were covered in blue stains after being tested for blood spattering during the police investigation.
Quesada described the moments during the alleged attack and before he became unconscious.
“I will never forget that moment, when a savage animal in the house, with a soul-less stare and a foul smell will never leave my mind. What this beast did to us is so horrific that he deserves to be incarcerated for the rest of existence.”
An accomplice, Nathan Lamontagne pleaded guilty in 2014 of charges he faced in connection with the attack. He is serving 5 years in prison.
Testimony will resume Thursday morning. Prosecutors have not called Lamontagne to testify in the case but made several references to his testimony in opening arguments.
