Bedford baker becomes international champion in cake design Olympics
BEDFORD - New Hampshire has a new Olympic champion - this time in the international Cake Olympics.
Bryson Perkins, the creative director of Triolo's Bakery, is now the fourth-ranked cake artist in the world after an international competition last month in Milan, Italy.
Perkins represented the United States as he put up his cake design skills against the world's best artists in the Cake Designers World Championships on Oct. 26-27.
Sixteen teams participated in the Cake Olympics, which required competitors to create one live competition cake, one public display cake, and three tasting cakes assembled live.
The competitors had four hours to complete the from-scratch tasting cake and another four hours to complete the live cake challenge.
