Barrington man dies of apparent heart attack after threatening police


BARRINGTON — A Barrington man died of a possible heart attack after he threatened police with a handgun at his home on June 11, according to police.

Foster's Daily Democrat reported Barrington Police responded to a residence on Route 9 to assist ambulance employees with a man reported to be experiencing a heart attack. When police arrived, Russell Hutchins, 32, was outside the rear of the residence, police said.

According to police, Hutchins was armed with a handgun and threatened to kill the officers. Officers observed that Hutchins appeared to stop breathing and they immediately approached him, secured the weapon and rendered medical aid. Hutchins was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he was pronounced dead, police said.
