Ayotte seeks more information on Guantanamo transfers

CONCORD — Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte is calling on President Barack Obama to release more information about detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

Ayotte joins six other GOP senators in penning a letter to the president asking for more public information before and when detainees are transferred to other countries. They are asking the administration to provide details about what terrorist activities or trainings detainees participated in, which terrorist organizations they have been affiliated with and whether the detainees have assaulted guards at the prison, among other things.

The letter also asks the administration to be clearer about what will happen to detainees if they are released to other countries.

They say the American people must know more than a detainee's name and where the detainee is being transferred.
