Auburn, NH family finds dog shot dead in woods
AUBURN- A family in Auburn is devastated after finding their dog shot and killed in the woods near their house. Tammy Lambiris says her family is going through a range of emotion.
"We're going through sadness, we're going through anger, and then determined to find the person that did this to our puppy," Lambiris said.
One year old Tydon, a Bernese mountain dog was thought to be missing Wednesday, which happened to be the first day of hunting season. Neighbors heard a gunshot and didn't think much of it. Tydon's owners don't think this was an accident.
"Tydon, he's not aggressive he's shown no aggression at all, it was like the dog had a smile on his face at all hours of the day," said Lambiris' son Brandon.
The family is now concerned about Tydon's 10 week-old brother Cyrus. They've already noticed a difference in his behavior.
"He just waits for him at the door, he's seen us all crying, it's been a very sad, sad home," Lambiris said.
Police say the incident happened on public property where it is legal to hunt deer. They say even if this was an accident, the person needs to come forward.
Neighbors say they'd often see Tydon around. They call him the "neighborhood dog." They're concerned this could happen again.
The family is asking anyone who may know something about Tydon's death to call police. They say even if it was an accident, the fact the person didn't report it is unforgiveable.
