The Attorney General projects that there will be 480 drug overdose deaths in NH at the conclusion of 2016, about 40 more than 2015.
As of Wednesday, there were 241 drug deaths reported in 2016. There are also 91 cases that are pending toxicology. It can take two to three months to receive toxicology results and for the pathologists to review them and determine the cause of death, according to the Attorney General's office.
Drug overdoses have drastically increased since 2012, when there was 163 overdoses. This amount is projected to almost triple in 2016.
