Attacks against women lead to several indictments


BRENTWOOD - A grand jury has indicted several men over attacks against women, including one man accused of sexually abusing a young girl and another who punched his girlfriend in the stomach, causing her to miscarry.

Brian Johnson, 38, of Derry faces indictment on four counts of aggravated sexual assault that included having intercourse with a girl younger than 13. He is accused of engaging in a pattern of sexual assault over several years.

Ryan Cavallaro, 24, of Salisbury, Mass. is charged with causing a woman to miscarry by punching her in the stomach in Seabrook last September.

William Joseph Bates, 26, of East Wakefield was indicted on sex assault charges in a case where he also allegedly stabbed his victim with a hypodermic needle in Newmarket last October.
