Atkinson teen charged with cashing $16,000 in stolen checks, possessing heroin

ATKINSON - A 19-year-old man is charged with forging more than $16,000 in checks stolen from a family member and being in possession of heroin.

Dylan R. Markievitz, 19, of Atkinson was arrested March 23 and charged with forgery, theft bv unauthorized taking, and possession of heroin. Atkinson Police Chief Albert Brackett said Markievitz cashed over $16,000 in checks in a little over one month's time. Brackett said the checks were stolen from a family member in Atkinson and cashed at a bank in Salem.

"It's a sad case, like so many other stories of heroin," the chief said.
