Assistance needed to locate missing hiker in White Mountains

CONCORD - A 64-year-old hiker has gone missing in the White Mountain National Forest during a multi-day hike, and the N.H. Fish and Game Department is looking for help from other hikers who may have seen her.

Claire Marie Cocuzzo, of Westwood, Mass., had planned to hike from Oct. 5 through Oct. 10, 2015, starting from the Mount Garfield trailhead to Bond Cliff and back, a roughly 26 mile hike. Fish and Game officials say a family member reported her missing when she did not return, as planned.

Search teams have been deployed on the ground and a helicopter is being used to fly over the area. Fish and Game say Cocuzzo's car was found on Gale River Road in Bethlehem.

She is described as a 64 years old with gray hair and brown eyes. She is 5 foot, 2 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. Anyone who saw Cocuzzo or had any interaction with her along the trail is encouraged to call the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department at (603) 271-3361.
