Arrest made after road rage incident led to gunfire on July 4th in Belmont

BELMONT — Police announced they have a man in custody connected to a road rage incident involving a gun that took place on Route 106 in Belmont Monday.

Authorities allege Christopher Banilla, 20, of Nashua, fired a bullet from a handgun while driving his car into another moving vehicle, shattering its rear window after a roadway dispute. Banilla has been charged with felony-level reckless conduct as a result of the allegations.

Banilla was reported to have left the scene immediately after the incident took place, but several witnesses claim they saw it happen and gave police his vehicle’s information. A bullet was later recovered by police in the victim’s car.

He was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and will appear in court on July 21.
