Argument between two men in Manchester ends in shooting

MANCHESTER - An argument between two men ended with one man shot and another man under arrest early Saturday morning.

Police say Marcos Nieves, 39, of 101 Ash St. has been charged with first-degree assault, reckless conduct and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Nieves allegedly shot another man during an argument near School St. hitting the victim in the leg. The victim was taken to Catholic Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say several people said they heard a disturbance in the alley between 72 Second St. and 34 School St. that involved multiple people.

Police say the incident remains under investigation but they do not believe there is any danger to the public. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Detective Division at 792-5500

Nieves is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in the 9th Circuit Court of Manchester.
