App tests if you are too high to drive

It's your own canary in the coal mine - right on your iPhone, but for weed.

A group called NORML, which would like to see marijuana legalized, has developed an app called My Canary. Its goal is to let you know if you're too high to drive.

This app, described in an article in Business Insider as a "digital breathalyzer" system, is a series of tests including memory and balance tests, a whack-a-mole-like game, and a time-estimating game.

"My Canary is the first app to give consumers the scientific information they need to honestly and accurately evaluate their personal performance — privately, anytime, and anywhere,'" Allen St. Pierre, the executive director of NORML said to the Daily Mail.

These measurements are better than timing how long it has been since marijuana was consumed, because people metabolize THC at different rates.

The feedback is a green, red or yellow light that corresponds to their driving ability.

"My Canary" costs $4.99 to download.
