Apartment building in Keene heavily damaged by fire

KEENE - A fire that started in one apartment on Dunbar Street caused serious damage to the building and forced all the occupants out of their homes.

Firefighters say the call came in shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday as a report of smoke in an apartment on the first floor. When firefighters arrived, they discovered the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but one apartment was destroyed.

Firefighters say no one was injured but that residents are not being allowed back into the building until it can be inspected by the building department. The Red Cross was on the scene and reports aiding seven adults and two children to ensure they had a place to stay after the fire.
