Another firefighter charged with setting brush fire

YORK, Maine - A fire chief is charged with arson in connection with a woods-grass and marsh fire allegedly set three weeks ago.

Old Orchard Beach Fire Chief Ricky Plummer, 59, was arrested early this morning at his mother's house in Scarborough, officials said. The Maine State Fire Marshal alleges Plummer set the April 15 fire which consumed 42 acres of the Jones Creek Marsh and brought in over 100 firefighters from Southern Maine to knock it down.

This is the second firefighter in less than month charged with arson. Stoddard volunteer firefighter David Plante, 34, is charged with two counts of arson, for allegedly setting two fires in that town - one on April 20 and a second on April 21 which burned more than 200 acres and forced the evacuation of 17 homes.

Plummer's first court appearance will likely be determined the first of the week. His bail was set at $10,000.
